At the Harbour

Best way to spend a Wednesday afternoon: with my sister at the Dana Point Harbour! It even inspired our nautical look...

 Ahoy!

Pop-Tart Recipe

Someone asked for the recipe to my pop-tarts, which made me realize that I probably should have posted it in the first place (thank you Alexx). So here it is...
You Will Need:
1/2 cup margarine
1/4 cup creamy peanut butter
1 cup firmly packed brow sugar
1 egg
3 and 1/2 cup un-sifted flour
1/8 teas. baking soda
1/4 teas. salt
1/2 cup hot water
jar of jam (about 10 teas.)
Beet together margarine and peanut butter until smooth. Add sugar and egg; beat until well mixed. Mix together flour, baking soda, and salt, and add to peanut butter mixture alternately with water, beginning and ending with flour mixture. Divide dough in half and follow steps above. Place on ungreased cookie sheet and bake in oven for 7 minutes at 400 degrees. Let cool on rack, and toast before serving. Serves 10. Enjoy!

Pop-tarts: My Mommy's Style

Now I think that it is universally agreed that all desserts are better when home made. But home made pop-tarts- now that is something that everyone has to try! My mom found the recipe sometime in the 70's, and it has been a hit in our family ever since! Here's some pop-tart-making steps:

After you roll out the dough...

...and cut it into little squares...

...you put a spoonful of jam on one square...

...and cover it with the other square...

...and press all the sides down with a fork.

Ready for the oven!

San Juan Mission

Did you know that I live in the oldest town in Orange County? It was established 1776. Also, it's home to the San Juan Mission! You know, the mission that are dotted up and down California that you took a school field trip to visit when you were in 4th grade? Well, that is, if you're from here. Here's some of my favorite photos of our mission!

Shakespeare Show!

My town's annual Shakespeare-in-the-Park Festival is coming up soon! Last year I was in  A Midsummer's Night Dream, where I got to play Sung-the-Joiner, and Cobweb, a fairy. It was so fun! I know that many people hear the word "Shakespeare" and automatically think how boring, but if performed right, one can really develop an appreciation for it. Here's some photos from last year's performance. :)

First play where I got to eat on stage.

Genne Kelly vs. Fred Astaire

Gene Kelly (my personal favorite)

In On the Town (he's on the right)

With Leslie Caron in An American in Paris (she makes me wish there were more movies that involved ballet!)

And, of course, Singin' in the Rain!

His mom urged him to learn dance as a kid, so after he was a blue collar worker during the Great Depression, he opened a dance school, then went on to Broadway, where he said he didn't worry about getting work since the other dancers weren't pretty good. That might sound kind of cocky, but hey-he's Gene Kelly, so shouldn't it be pretty obvious that he would be the best?! From there he went to film, and the rest is history!

Fred Astaire

 In Top Hat

With Ms. Ginger Rogers in Carefree

With the wonderful Audrey Hepburn in Funny Face (when she was in grade school up to her teens, she actually was training as a ballerina)

Fred's mom put him in dance lessons, stepped up to Broadway, and once his fame really started to shoot up, Queen Elizabeth II (not at the time though) even invited him to visit. He headed to Hollywood, where he was paired with Ginger Rogers, making them become an infamous duo. He was such a perfectionist that sometimes he would practice for 18 hours a day- and would even make his partners do the same. But hey, it paid off, right?

So who's your favorite?
